June 2007 Featured Band
The Cut-Offs formed in the year 1998. The original members got together with little intention of doing anything more than to have a good time. The original line up consisted of Matt Mulhall trying to sing, Pete Mulhall trying to play guitar and sometimes bass, Ryan Adie trying to play bass and sometimes guitar, and Eric Schultz banging on a 30+ year old drum set fully equipped with an old toaster that added a sound not yet captured live. Pete and Ryan, being guitarists, did not want to play bass. Instead they switched bass duty in the middle of sets. The band wrote two new songs the day of their first show and played a blistering six song fifteen minute set. Due to planting his seed, Eric left the band shortly after their first show, which came shortly after their first practice. The band forged on and added Derek Reinhart on drums. Derek played a few shows with the Cut-Offs but due to either commitment problems or a broken watch could not show up for practices. He, in turn, was replaced by Keion Nostadt, who added the first actual talent to the band. The Cut-Offs then began a tear of shows with bands like Fed Up, The 440's and the Noid. With a growing constituency and more songs the band decided to take a break, which lasted for a few months. Matt, Pete, Eric, and Derek formed a side project and played around. Ryan and Keion also formed a short-lived side project. After all wounds healed, the Cut-Offs decided to give the music another shot. The band reformed with Matt on vocals, Ryan and Eric on guitar, Keion on drums, and added Tony Cadaver on bass. The band has finished their first full length CD Fat, Drunk, and Angry which can be purchased from any show and various other places listed on our web site. In the beginning of the the summer in 2004 Eric Schultz has left the band to take time out to be with his family. We thanks him for all the help and support thru the years and have decided that it would be easier and more productive to carry on as a 4 piece than try to replace him. Moving on to Febuary 2005 we recorded 13 tracks for a new album titled American Standard and are currently shoping them to various record labels with hopes to be getting some help with the release which is planned for the end of 2005. We are currently touring up and down the east coast and have a tour booked for the west coast in December with McRad, Leiana and the Ray Gradys. Now with the west coast tour successfully accomplished, we are going to concentrate on the release of American Standard and the recording of our third release. We will also be appearing on a few comps, in which some songs we will be working in the studio with Chuck Treece producing us. Also looking forward many upcoming shows and a summer tour with McRad and Leiana in support of our new releases.
